HURRICANE AID on THANKSGIVING
Early last month Hurricane Matthew devastated parts of the Southeast coast of the United States and some countries in the Caribbean, especially Haiti. Archbishop Kurtz, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), has invited the parishes of all dioceses and archdioceses to take up a collection for the people affected by this natural disaster. The funds will be used to support the efforts of Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities USA as they reach out to provide humanitarian aid in the form of water, food, shelter, and medical care, as well as to their long-term efforts to restore communities after widespread destruction, and to the USCCB for the pastoral and reconstruction needs of the Church in the Caribbean and the United States. Archbishop Cordileone has recommended that the offertory collection for Thanksgiving Day Mass be designated for this purpose. Mindful of the many requests parishioners receive, your support of this special collection is greatly appreciated
