About

Some information about who we are and what we do

holynameofjesus.jpgIn 1925, Father Richard Ryan was the first pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Parish, which held its inaugural Mass on October 26 of that year in a rented community hall on Kirkham Street and 45th Avenue. The following year, a church was built on 38th Avenue between Irving and Judah Streets.

Today, Holy Name of Jesus Parish is situated at 1555 39th Ave in the Outer Sunset District of San Francisco and comprises the Church and Chapel, Pastoral Center, Flanagan Center, School, Preschool, and Rectory. The current church, made of concrete and steel, was dedicated on April 5, 1964.

The Pastoral Center now houses the Parish offices, Religious Education classes, the Conservatory of Music, and multiple Parish Organization offices. It also hosts various group activities and meetings and features a Chapel with a capacity of 40 people. The Chapel is ideal for intimate weddings or Memorial Masses, and the remodeled Victorian-inspired Dining Room is perfect for receptions.

Fr. Allan Roy E. Remo is the parish administrator.
